The Matcham Hall is a charming, historic public hall located in the picturesque Matcham and Holgate Valleys of the NSW Central Coast.

Supporting Our Community for over 100 years

Established in 1915, the Hall was built by members of the local community to serve as a focus for activities and entertainment. In the early years, the Hall was used for community dances, Sunday church services before the foundation of the St George's Church and for meetings on community issues.

Over a century later the Hall remains an important part of our local community. As new residents move into the valley they are always welcome to come and meet some of their neighbours at one of our BBQs or parties. We hope that the Hall will always be used for a range of activities, appealing to many different ages and backgrounds. This is the way we hope to continue that tradition of community involvement that the founders of our lovely little Hall had in mind so long ago.

Each year we host a traditional ANZAC Day Service, a Christmas get-together and an end of winter dance in August, along with other great community-building activities throughout the year.

Modern Kitchen Facility

Our beautiful kitchen features everything you need to cater in-house, including professional standard ovens, instant hot water, a microwave, a large capacity refrigerator and a dishwasher.

Designed with a long bench that opens to the hall that can easily be set up as a bar or as a service area for wait staff.

You can self-cater, hire your own caterer or we can confidently recommend local caterers that are familiar with this space and known for consistently providing exceptional service.

The availability of reusable items and our links to great local hire services mean you can maximise the fun while minimising your impact on the environment. We can supply folding tables and chairs and connect you with hire services for other items.

A beautiful, renovated venue

Our warm, welcoming hall has a traditional country feel and is a great space for wedding receptions, celebrations and regular classes or workshops. Our beautiful open fire makes the space cozy in winter and great design means it stays cool and breezy in summer.

The space is child-friendly and we love hosting children’s birthday parties, parents groups and baby sensory classes. Over the years the hall has been home to many kinds of classes, including yoga, tai chi and meditation. It has been home base for gardening groups, art groups and community groups.

In the interest of our neighbours, the hall is not available for parties that will create lots of noise or run late (such as 18th and 21st birthday parties) but we have enjoyed sharing this great space for all kinds of lunch time and evening events, including eco-weddings, big zero birthdays (30/40/50/60/70), extended family gatherings and annual Christmas parties.

If you are interested in renting the hall on a regular basis for classes, workshops or meetings please talk to us about how we can support you and how our great local community Facebook group can be accessed to promote your business.

Accessible and welcoming

Our hall features accessible toilets, level flooring and easy adjacent parking for those with mobility issues.

The large covered outdoor area is perfect for setting up a barbecue or creating a break-out space for workshops. If you’re having a party, it also provides your guests with a chill out area when the dance floor is in full flight.

The hall features a stage at one end, making it easy for audiences to see and hear speakers, and providing the perfect platform for musical performances including bands.

We are in close proximity to several popular outdoor wedding locations, including Terrigal and Wamberal beaches and Fires Creek Winery.

We have kept our hire rates reasonable because our main focus is making this beautiful hall the heart of our community. We recommend booking early for popular Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening spots. Please call or email us for a quote.
